Common Questions
Who do you see?
I see youth age 10+ and adults up to age 65.
How much does therapy cost?
My professional fees are $175 for the initial session, $135 for future individual therapy sessions at the standard 45-50-minutes, and $165 for sessions over that. Family therapy is billed at an hourly rate of $165. Couples therapy is billed at an hourly rate of $165, a service which I do not submit to insurance. Fees vary for extended and/or increased complexity of sessions. I will provide you with all fee-related information upon request so that you are fully informed.
Do you accept insurance?
I am in-network with several insurance companies. Please call to check on your mental health benefits before our first visit so that you are aware of your deductible, coinsurance, and/or any copay you may have. If I accept your insurance, simply bring your card to your initial appointment.
If I do not accept your insurance, you may choose to use out-of-network mental health benefits if your plan offers this or pay the cash rate. If you choose the former, I can provide you with an invoice for you to submit to your insurance company and they can reimburse you directly.
What payment methods do you accept?
I accept payment by cash, check, or card before or at the time of service. Please be aware that I do not keep cash on hand and therefore will apply a credit to your account if need be. I do not accept American Express.
Are there any additional fees?
If you are in need of formal assessments, these may involve cost that is not covered by your insurance. This is determined based on the clinical question to be answered and the assessment measures utilized to do so. If you require documentation that requires over 15 minutes of my professional time to compile, I charge $100 per hour for the preparation of such materials. If you become involved in legal proceedings that require my participation, we will discuss expectations and fees included for my preparation and participation in any legal proceeding.
What if I'm late or I have to cancel?
Missed and cancelled sessions present challenges for both of us. It can be difficult for me to fill a last minute cancelled session on short notice. Therefore, I charge half of my session fee ($50) for appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours notice. I do make accommodations to this policy as warranted.
How often will we meet?
At our first session, we will discuss what will be best for you with regard to frequency of sessions. I typically see clients weekly to every other week, at least at the start, and work our way out to less frequent meetings based on your needs. Many clients achieve the ability to pop in on an as-needed basis as they progress.
What are your hours?
I work Monday through Thursday with varying hours. I do not see clients on the weekend and have limited evening availability. I do the bulk of my administrative work on Fridays.
Do you prescribe medication?
I am not licensed to prescribe medication, however, I can refer you to exceptional medication providers with whom I collaborate who can meet this need for you.
What is the No Surprises Act?
You have the right to a Good Faith Estimate of what your services may cost. Go to www.cms.gov for additional information and/or ask your provider.
